Streaming Gift Cards Wholesale: Netflix and What to Check

Streaming gift cards are prepaid subscription time: a Netflix card pays for a Netflix streaming plan and nothing else. Trade buyers carry them through authorised distribution as digital codes, and the work is in the details: which plans and billing setups a card can pay for, which currency or country it must match, and what happens when the balance runs out. Brands also change their card programmes: per Spotify’s support pages, Spotify gift cards are no longer sold, though cards already bought can still be redeemed.

Those rules differ by brand, and each one turns into a support ticket if the listing gets it wrong. This article covers Netflix and Spotify from their own published pages, checked on 2026-10-06, and how to check any other brand.

Why streaming cards sell

The buyer is usually not the subscriber. Streaming cards are bought as gifts, by people who do not want a recurring charge on their own card, and by households that prefer to pay for a fixed period in advance. In markets where card payments online are less common, a prepaid code is simply how a customer gets access at all.

For a business the product suits several channels: a storefront’s gift section, a rewards catalogue where recipients choose an everyday brand, and a bank or wallet app adding digital products to its offering. Streaming sits naturally beside gaming credit in a catalogue aimed at younger customers.

Netflix: what its help pages say

Per Netflix’s help centre, a Netflix gift card can only be used for a Netflix streaming subscription. It does not pay for anything else Netflix sells. Netflix’s help pages say that once a card is applied to an account, the customer can watch until the gift card balance runs out.

The rules a seller needs:

  • Currency, not country. Netflix’s help pages say a card bought in another country can be used as long as it is in the same currency as the customer’s Netflix bill.
  • Billing setup. Netflix’s help pages say a card can be applied when the customer pays through a third party, except when they pay through Apple or have a Netflix-included package. Apple-billed customers have to cancel, wait for the account to close and restart it with the card; package customers can keep the card until the account is no longer linked to a package.
  • No expiry. Netflix states its gift cards do not expire, and that this is printed on the back of each card.
  • No refunds or reloads. Netflix states gift cards are non-refundable and cannot be reloaded.
  • Redemption. The customer enters the code at netflix.com/redeem.

Netflix also tells customers not to share a card’s code or serial number with anyone except the intended recipient. That is the line to repeat in your own delivery email.

Spotify: no longer a product to source

Per Spotify’s support pages (checked 2026-10-06), Spotify gift cards are no longer available for purchase; cards already sold remain valid and can still be redeemed. Treat Spotify as a support topic for existing cardholders, not a product to source. A supplier still offering new Spotify gift card stock should be asked where it comes from.

Customers holding older cards will still ask questions, and the rules are strict. Per Spotify’s support pages, gift cards cannot be applied to Premium Student, Premium Family, Premium Duo, trial offers or a Basic plan. Spotify’s US gift card terms described cards as “redeemable only for full price standalone Premium subscription months”, so in practice they paid for Premium Individual time.

The rest of the rules for existing cards:

  • Country match. Spotify’s support pages state that the account’s country or region setting needs to match where the card was purchased.
  • What happens at the end. If the customer has a payment method set up, payments continue normally once the card is used up; if not, the account returns to the free, ad-supported service.
  • Timing. On an existing paid plan, the card starts at the next payment date; on a free account it starts immediately.
  • No cash value. Spotify’s US terms state the card is not refundable and cannot be redeemed for cash.

Spotify’s US terms also addressed resale directly: cards “may not be resold without express written authorization from Issuer”, and a card “obtained from unauthorized sellers, distributors or resellers” is not valid and will not be honoured. That clause is a useful model of what to look for in any streaming brand’s terms.

For Netflix, the currency rule and the Apple-billing exception are the ones to put in the listing, not only in the delivery email. For Spotify, the useful work is a support macro for holders of older cards: the family-plan rule and the country rule answer most of their questions.

Other streaming brands

Other video, music and live-sport services sell prepaid cards in some markets, and the rules vary more than the products do. Some sell cards for a fixed number of months rather than a currency value; some limit cards to new subscribers; some sell no cards at all and are paid through an app store instead. Do not assume one brand’s rules carry over to another. Before listing any streaming card, read that brand’s own terms for the market and confirm:

  • Which plans the card can pay for, and which it cannot
  • Whether the matching rule is by currency, country or account region
  • Whether the card is a currency value or a fixed period of service
  • Expiry of the code before redemption and of the balance after it
  • What happens when the prepaid period ends
  • Whether the brand’s terms restrict resale to authorised channels

Many subscriptions can also be funded through the app stores. Apple Account balance and Google Play balance can pay for many subscriptions billed through those stores, with exceptions each platform lists, which gives a seller a way to cover streaming demand without stocking every brand. The details and limits are in Apple gift cards wholesale and Google Play gift cards wholesale.

Sourcing and authorisation

Spotify’s former terms show why the supply chain matters for this category: a card from an unauthorised seller is a card the brand may refuse to honour. Buy from a distributor that can show where its stock comes from, agree in writing what happens to codes that fail, and test-redeem one code per market before listing. Authorised vs grey-market gift cards explains the difference and why it shows up later as refunds.

Region discipline matters as much as anywhere. Record the currency and country of every batch, show it on every listing, and route customers to the right SKU before checkout. The general reasoning is in why gift cards are region-locked.

Giftoro supplies B2B buyers across 100+ brands through an API and bulk files, with balance top-ups including USDT. Which streaming brands and markets are available is confirmed per account; the distributor page covers onboarding.

Frequently asked questions

Can I buy Netflix gift cards wholesale for my store?

Through a distributor with authorised supply, yes. Confirm the currency of each batch, because Netflix’s help pages say a card works only when its currency matches the customer’s Netflix billing currency. Netflix states its cards do not expire and cannot be refunded or reloaded, so describe them in listings as prepaid Netflix subscription time and nothing else.

Can an existing Spotify gift card be used for Premium Family or Duo?

No. Per Spotify’s support pages, gift cards cannot be applied to Premium Family, Premium Duo, Premium Student, trial offers or a Basic plan. Spotify’s US terms describe cards as redeemable only for full-price standalone Premium months. Customers on a family or duo plan holding an older card cannot apply it to that plan.

Can I still buy Spotify gift cards?

No. Per Spotify’s support pages, checked on 2026-10-06, Spotify gift cards are no longer available for purchase, while cards already bought remain valid and can still be redeemed. Treat Spotify as a support topic for existing cardholders rather than a product to stock, and ask any supplier still offering new Spotify card stock where it comes from.

Do streaming gift cards work in other countries?

It depends on the brand’s rule. Netflix matches on currency: a card works if it is in the same currency as the customer’s bill. Spotify matches on country: the account’s country must match where an existing card was bought. Other brands set their own rules, so stock per market and state the market clearly on every listing.

What happens when a streaming gift card balance runs out?

The subscription needs another way to pay. Per Spotify’s support pages, an account with a payment method on file continues as normal, and one without returns to the free, ad-supported tier. On Netflix, the customer watches until the balance runs out and then needs another card or payment method. Mention this in the delivery email to avoid surprise charges or interruptions.
