Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero are sold to players as top-ups of a paid currency: Oneiric Shards in Star Rail and Monochromes in Zenless Zone Zero. A reseller reaches the buyer in two ways: direct top-up against the player’s UID and server through an official recharge route, or platform credit such as PlayStation, Xbox or app-store wallet cards that fund the in-game purchase. HoYoverse’s support pages do not describe a retail gift card for either game.
Both titles are HoYoverse games built on the same pattern as Genshin Impact: one account system, a UID-plus-server identity and a paid currency that converts into the one players actually spend. The Genshin specifics are in Genshin Impact top-ups; this article covers what differs for the two newer games and how a storefront should list them.
Two games, one shape
The currency split is the first thing to get right in a listing. Per the games’ platform store listings, the paid currency buys packs and converts into the earned currency, which funds the draw system.
| Honkai: Star Rail | Zenless Zone Zero | |
|---|---|---|
| Paid currency | Oneiric Shards | Monochromes |
| Earned / spendable currency | Stellar Jade | Polychromes |
| What the spendable currency funds | Star Rail Passes and Special Passes for Warps | Master Tapes and Encrypted Master Tapes for Signal Search |
| Official pack ladder (platform stores) | 60 to 6,480 Oneiric Shards | 60 to 6,480 Monochromes |
| First-purchase bonus per pack | Yes, per store listings | Yes, per store listings |
| Account identifier for top-up | UID and server | UID and server |
The practical rule follows from the table. A store sells Oneiric Shards and Monochromes. It does not sell Stellar Jade or Polychromes, which players receive by conversion or earn in game, and copy that says otherwise reads as amateur to an audience that knows its own economy well.
Quote pack sizes exactly as the official ladder shows them. Players compare your listing with the in-game shop, and a pack size that does not exist there is the fastest way to lose their trust.
How a top-up reaches the account
HoYoverse runs official web top-up centres for both games, listed on its support pages next to the Genshin one. Per HoYoverse’s support article on web top-ups, the player logs in to the game account at the top-up centre and must select the correct server and game account before paying.
Where your supplier is an authorised HoYoverse top-up partner, a reseller’s direct top-up follows the same shape without the login: the customer gives a UID and picks a server, the store validates the pair through its fulfilment channel, shows the in-game nickname back for confirmation, and only then takes payment. The general model is in what is direct top-up, and the checkout pattern in player ID validation for top-ups.
Two details matter for these games in particular:
- One login, several UIDs. HoYoverse’s support pages state that a HoYoverse Account ID and a game UID are different things, and one account can hold several UIDs. Ask for the in-game UID of the specific game, not the account ID, and say so on the form.
- Server choice is part of the order. Both games run separate regional servers; for Star Rail these are America, Europe, Asia and TW/HK/MO. HoYoverse’s support pages state that an account cannot move between servers and that purchases stay tied to the original server. A top-up aimed at the wrong server fails at best. Make server selection a required field, never a default.
The four routes to the buyer
A storefront has more than one way to sell these games, and most stores mix them depending on the audience.
- Direct top-up through an official route. The cleanest product: the customer receives exactly the pack the official shop sells, without touching a code. A HoYoverse support article on Genshin Impact purchases refers to official top-up partners alongside its own websites and states that unofficial or unauthorised third-party top-up services are strictly prohibited. Another support article says HoYoverse’s customer support will confirm whether a third-party payment service is an authorised partner if sent the service’s link. Ask any supplier which official route it fulfils through, and check the answer that way.
- Platform wallet credit. Star Rail sells Oneiric Shards inside the PlayStation Store, and Zenless Zone Zero sells Monochromes on PlayStation and Xbox, per the games’ platform store listings. On mobile, purchases run through the app stores. A PSN code, an Xbox card or an app-store card therefore funds the purchase, with the region rules of that platform.
- Cross-publisher wallets. Some players top up through game-credit wallets that list HoYoverse titles in their catalogues. Coverage differs by market and changes over time, so check the wallet’s current catalogue for your region before promising it in a listing.
- Monthly passes. Both games sell a 30-day pass: the Express Supply Pass in Star Rail and the Inter-Knot Membership in Zenless Zone Zero. Per the games’ platform store listings, each grants a block of paid currency at purchase plus a daily amount of the spendable currency on login for 30 days. Where your fulfilment route offers these as separate SKUs, list them as such.
Wallet cards are the lowest-effort route to stock, because they behave like any other gift card. Direct top-up usually matches what the customer is looking for, because they receive the pack itself.
Cross-platform and region caveats
HoYoverse has loosened cross-platform purchase restrictions over time. Its support pages state that Genshin Impact dropped them from version 5.8, so a PlayStation-registered player can buy on PC or mobile. Do not assume the same rule applies to Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero at any given moment: check HoYoverse’s current notices for each game before you tell PlayStation players that a web top-up will reach them.
HoYoverse’s support pages note, for Genshin Impact’s passes, that availability and pricing can vary by region and platform; check each Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero listing for your market. Price against the account’s own regional ladder, and treat any supply far below official pack prices as a warning sign rather than an opportunity.
Demand comes in waves
Like Genshin, both games sell on a version and banner calendar. New characters (Agents, in Zenless Zone Zero) arrive on fixed schedules, players plan purchases around them, and top-up volume rises sharply in the days around a release. A storefront that already sells Genshin will see the same shape three times over, on slightly different calendars.
For planning, this means two things. Make sure your supplier’s fulfilment capacity and your balance with them are topped up before a major release, not during it. And keep pack sizes and first-purchase bonus wording current, because players check them most closely when they are about to spend.
Supplier checklist
Before listing either game, confirm the following with your supplier in writing:
- Which official route fulfils the order, and that no step logs into the customer’s account.
- UID and server validation through the API, returning the in-game nickname before payment.
- The exact pack ladder and passes available, per game and per server.
- Delivery time expectations and the status your system receives on success and on failure.
- Replacement or refund terms when a top-up fails, and evidence they provide for disputes.
- Invoices and statements for every balance top-up and order.
- A small test order to a real account on each server you serve.
The wider vetting list is in how to vet a gift card supplier. Giftoro works with trade buyers only, through an API and bulk files, with KYB onboarding and a dedicated account manager; see the Giftoro API for how ordering works.
Frequently asked questions
How do I sell Honkai: Star Rail top-ups as a reseller?
Sell direct top-ups of Oneiric Shards fulfilled through an authorised HoYoverse top-up partner against the player’s UID and server, or sell platform wallet credit that funds the in-game purchase. Collect the UID and server at checkout, validate them and show the in-game nickname before payment, and quote pack sizes exactly as the official shop does. HoYoverse does not describe a retail Star Rail gift card on its support pages, so plan around top-ups and platform credit.
What is the difference between Monochromes and Polychromes in Zenless Zone Zero?
Monochromes are the paid currency: they are bought in packs and, per the game’s store listings, can buy bundles and be traded for Polychromes. Polychromes are what players spend on Master Tapes and Encrypted Master Tapes for Signal Search, and they are also earned in game. A store sells Monochromes; listing Polychromes for sale describes something players do not buy directly.
Do Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero top-ups need the player’s password?
No. A legitimate top-up needs only the in-game UID and the server. Any service that asks for the account login to deliver currency puts the account at risk, and HoYoverse prohibits unauthorised top-up services; its support pages warn that purchases through non-authorised services can endanger accounts and assets. Make it clear on your checkout that you will never ask for a password.
Can I top up a PlayStation account for these games from the web?
It depends on the game’s current cross-platform purchase rules. HoYoverse removed those restrictions for Genshin Impact from version 5.8, per its support pages, but you should check its latest notices for Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero separately. Until confirmed, the safe route for a PlayStation player is PlayStation Store credit of the matching region.
Why did my customer’s top-up not arrive?
The common causes are a wrong server, a UID from a different HoYoverse game or an account ID entered instead of a UID, and fulfilment delays on the supplier side. Validation with nickname confirmation catches the first three before payment. For the rest, your supplier’s order status and statement are the evidence; agree the replacement process before you go live.
